Product Engineer

Overview:

We seek a dedicated, outgoing, technically proficient Product Engineer to join our team. This role involves providing research and development to support focusing on Variphy software and development-related activities. Additionally, the candidate will be crucial in product design, working closely with multiple internal teams and potential clients to obtain technical feedback on our solutions. The ideal candidate will be a team player who excels at working with cross-functional teams, has a basic knowledge of the unified communications landscape, and has a solid ability to communicate complex technical issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning:

    • Technical Roadmap Development: Work with stakeholders to develop and maintain a technical roadmap that aligns with company goals and market trends.
    • Innovation Initiatives: Identify and drive innovation initiatives to keep the product ahead of the competition.
    • Vendor Relations: Develop and maintain relationships with key technical and strategic contacts with Cisco, Webex, Microsoft, Zoom, and any other integration partners.
  • Problem-Solving:

    • Solve complex technical issues clearly and concisely, written and verbal, to a general audience.
  • Product Design and Development:

    • Collaborate with product managers and software engineers to design features and functionality that align with business goals.
    • Participate in requirements gathering to translate business needs into technical specifications.
    • Work with development teams to ensure the software architecture and design are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with product vision.
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, procedures, and how-to knowledge base articles.
  • Prototyping and Testing:

    • Develop prototypes or mockups to validate design concepts.
    • Analyze user feedback and test results to iterate on product improvements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Work closely with QA and DevOps teams to ensure a smooth development process.
    • Ensure and assist with clear communication between the technical team and other departments, such as marketing, sales, and support, to ensure alignment on product features.
  • Product Lifecycle Management:

    • Ensure documentation of all changes and updates, keeping internal teams informed.
  • Optimization and Maintenance:

    • Ensure that the product is reliable, scalable, and secure to meet the evolving needs of the users and the market.
  • Customer and Market Insights:

    • Incorporate customer feedback and market research to guide product improvements and feature updates.
    • Ensure that software features address real-world user problems and add value to customers.
    • Establish and maintain a deep understanding of the Variphy portfolio and the competitive landscape.
    • Participate in live webinars related to Variphy software, providing expert insights and assistance.

What Makes You a Great Fit:

  • Strong alignment and ability to exemplify, preserve, and protect Variphy’s core values and guiding principles.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of technologies, including:
    • Calling platforms (e.g., Unified Communications, Cisco, Webex, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Contact Center, UCaaS, CPaaS).
    • Operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows).
    • Database engines (e.g., MySQL, MSSQL).
    • Cloud management (e.g., GCP, Azure, AWS).
  • An outgoing personality who can relate, communicate, and foster internal and external relationships.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills are required to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, such as account executives, developers, product developers, and salespeople.
  • Basic project management skills to be able to manage multiple simultaneous projects effectively.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and best practices.
  • A customer-centric mindset is needed to understand and meet the needs of internal or external stakeholders who rely on the Variphy platform.
  • Commitment to continuously improving yourself, our product, and the customer experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in Unified Communications, Voice, Contact Center, and SBC support.
  • 2+ years in software development.
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), AND 1+ year(s) in Unified Communications, Voice, Contact Center, and SBC support.
  • Ability to travel to industry-related events and work the Variphy booth.
